"I hate when I have to raise my voice!
I prefer to teach and guide our kiddos in being their own heroes - helping them learn SELF regulation.
Teaching Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is my passion"

A few years ago, my oldest son, MJ, asked me a question that changed everything:
"Mom, why didn’t you teach me how to deal with my emotions?"
That question hit me like a gut punch. The truth? I didn’t know how. I had spent so much of my life not fully understanding my own emotions—pushing through, holding it in, surviving. It wasn’t until I was well into my forties that I truly began to unpack and understand them.
That moment with MJ changed everything. It was the spark that ignited my passion for Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
I knew I wanted better for my children. I wanted to give them the tools I never had—the ability to process their emotions, to communicate their feelings, to be emotionally resilient.
Today, MJ still struggles. Some days are better than others. But I see him growing. I am confident that in time he will find his way. And I see Kaidin, my youngest, learning from a much earlier age—learning to name his emotions, to breathe through frustration, to communicate his needs.
This is why the Word Nerd Academy, LLC journey is deeply personal. It’s not just about teaching SEL—it’s about breaking cycles, building strength, and helping my children grow into emotionally whole, confident communicators.
I wake up every day determined to help Kaici and Kaidin walk a different path—to equip them with the emotional resilience and communication skills I never had growing up. I want them to name their feelings, navigate big emotions, and express themselves in a healthy way.
But my journey doesn’t stop with them. I want to reach MJ, too. I want to help him heal, grow, and find his emotional strength. Because healing doesn’t have an age limit. Because we all deserve the tools to thrive emotionally.
This isn’t just a mission. It’s personal. It’s about breaking generational cycles. It’s about giving my children—and as many children as I can reach—a stronger, more emotionally secure foundation.
If you’re on this journey too, know this: You’re not alone. Healing is possible. And every step forward matters. 💙
The devil doesn't want us to help our children! But what he doesn't know is that the victory is already ours!
This is God's calling for me and I will keep doing the work that changes lives - for my family and for others!
